TOUR DIARIES WAZUAZ VANN(AM)ERICA TOUR : WEEK 2

Omaha➡️Saint Joseph➡️Denver➡️Grand Junction (September 19-25) Our second week of tour started in Omaha. First things first, laundry. We googled "best rated laundromat", as if that's a thing. There we sat gazing upon dirt dusted floors explaining to the person working there why UaZit had a vasectomy.  After our brains endured a solid wash cycle, lunch! Being mall rats at heart, we spent the rest of the evening perusing the local mall. But I do often, and did on that day. So I found myself half asleep, on the wander, in the fog, with my camera... With wander comes inspiration; a new addition of prints to scatter about...

A Story of the Natural Dye Osage Orange

A Story of the Natural Dye Osage Orange

Another history lesson on a beloved natural dye. Today, it is all about Osage Orange. Maclura pomifora. Despite its name and the juicy dye the heartwood provides, this tree is not related to oranges! Instead, it is closely related to the mulberry family. A relative to Figs, Jackfruit, Breadfruit and Ylang-Ylang. You may know this tree as horse apple, hedge tree or hedge apple tree. More commonly, it is known for the distinct, alien-looking fruit that drop early fall. These plump, chartreuse orbs are about the size of a grapefruit, have a warty, wrinkly surface and are unfortunately inedible to...
